Mosquitoes defied regional trends this summer – the usually buggy Winnipeg got a break whilst Edmonton felt the sting. The peak mosquito season may be over for some, however the risk of West Nile Virus is still out there. Just four days ago the first two human cases of the disease were announced by the Windsor-Essex County medical officer of health Dr Alan Heimann
“It’s important that local residents take personal protective measures to avoid mosquito bites and prevent infection,” Heimann said in a release.
