The use of attractants in traps has been shown to significantly increase capture rates of most mosquito species.

Mega-Catch™ 3000 (Combo Lure)

The Mega-Catch™ 3000 contains synthetic Octenol, Lactic Acid and other ingredients specifically formulated to provide even better capture rates of targeted species like the Asian Tiger (aedes albopictus), an aggressive day-time biter, and recognized laboratory vector of over 30 arboviruses including Dengue fever, Chikungunya, Encephalitis and West Nile virus.

In tests conducted by USDA entomologist, Dr Dan Kline, in November 2004, the capture of various mosquito species (including aedes albopictus, anopheles quadrimaculatus, anopheles crucian, culex erraticus, culex nigripalpus, culex quinquifasciatus, culex tarsalis, and ochlerotatus atlanticus) using traps baited with a combination of Octenol and Lactic Acid was two to three times greater than traps baited with Octenol alone.

Mega-Catch™ Octenol Fragrance Strip

Octenol (1-Octen-3-ol) is a by-product of the respiration of ruminants (e.g. oxen & cattle) and is sometimes referred to as “cow’s breath”. It is also produced naturally by several plants and fungi, including edible mushrooms. Mega-Catch™ Octenol Fragrance Strips contain minute quantities of synthetic Octenol and other specially formulated ingredients which are designed to attract a wider range of mosquitoes and other biting insects including sand flies, black flies and biting midges (no-see-ums).

Which Mega-Catch™Lure is right for you?

The choice of which attractant lure to use will largely depend on where it's intended to be used, since certain mosquito species are only found in certain U.S. states.

Mega-Catch™ Octenol Fragrance Strips and Mega-Catch™ 3000 cartridges are effective for up to 30 days depending on weather conditions.
